Robert Steffeck, senior writer, started Steffeck Consulting in 2006 after working for 20 years as a research chemist in new product development and pharmaceutical R & D. Well immersed in the language of science and engineering, he is an active copywriter and editor and a valuable resource for scientific marketing projects.
Robert has authored publications in chiral and achiral separations, ion-exclusion chromatography, and gas chromatography. While at Alltech (now Grace Davison Discovery Sciences), he published the first extensive comparison of C18 and C8 HPLC columns. At Pfizer, he published a new mode of chromatography, enantioselective ion-exclusion, and published the first separation of secondary amines on chiral crown ethers in the then 35-year history of crown ethers.
Robert has a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Certificate in Entrepreneurship from the University of Chicago, and is a member of the American Medical Writers Association. Robert is also a Corrective Exercise Specialist certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
Steven Schultz, Ph.D., editor, is president of Writing at Work. Since starting Writing at Work in 1985, he has written, edited, and managed large-scale communications projects. These projects include web sites, marketing materials, self-study and training guides, standard operating procedures, technical reports, computer user manuals, educational textbooks, and articles for professional publication. He has designed and taught electronic distance-learning, CD-based, web-based, and on-line college courses. Apart from his own articles for publication, Steve helps other professionals prepare their own work in journals and conference publications.
In on-site seminars and conference courses, Steven has also trained business and industry professionals to produce their own effective and clear documentation. He is often a featured speaker at professional conferences, such as for the American Society of Civil Engineers, American Society of Quality, Florida Association of Business Tax Officials, and Pittcon—the Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy.
Steven has taught at several universities and colleges in their graduate schools of business, corporate training divisions, and English departments. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Department's Distinction from the University of Illinois, with a Class Merit Scholar Award for his year's study at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. His doctorate in English is from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
